On Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 8PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island will present an evening with jazz/ R&B keyboardist Alex Bugnon.

ALEX BUGNON was raised in Montreaux, Switzerland, where he literally grew up at the jazz festival.  Year after year, he listened and learned from a disparate group of visionaries, including Carlos Santana, Billy Cobham, George Duke and his longtime personal friend, Herbie Hancock.  First stop after Switzerland was Paris, where he studied at a conservatory for two years before heading to Boston’s legendary Berklee School of Music and on to New York where he spent four years backing up performers like Najee, Freddie Jackson, Patti Austin and James Ingram before he landed his own record deal in 1989. Since then he has released five albums -- “Love Season,”  “Head Over Heels,”  “107o In The Shade” and “This Time Around” preceded his RCA Records debut, “Tales from the Bright Side.” His latest album is “Free”. Bugnon opens his mind and yours to the possibilities of music that spans multiple genres -- from the bass-driven power of 70’s funk, to traditional jazz and even classical music, with a bit of R&B and gospel thrown in for spice.

Special Guest Opener: JAZZ GUITARIST

Matt Marshak

music

Imagine organic funky rhythms, hip jazzy chord changes, enticing memorable melodies, and fresh production.  Matt Marshak manages to blend so much into his own brand of smooth jazz.  From Miller Place, Long Island, Matt Marshak has surely and steadily carved out a niche in smooth contemporary jazz, blues, funk and pop music.

Matt Marshak is performing as part of our LONG ISLANDS' OWN series.  Thanks to a generous grant and tremendous support from the Town of Huntington, IMAC's quarterly series, Long Islands' Own, will take a genre such as singer/songwriter, blues, jazz, folk or country and will offer a sampling of a local artist in an evening's performance.
