On Friday, February 6th, 2009 at 7PM & 9:30PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island will present an evening with blues/rock guitarists Jorma Kaukonen, Robben Ford, and Ruthie Foster: Guitar Blues.
Guitar Blues is a blues lovin’, guitar rockin’, all-star evening featuring three living legends of blues guitar. Jorma Kaukonen is a founding member of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna. In a career that has already spanned nearly a half century, Jorma Kaukonen has been the leading practitioner and teacher of fingerstyle guitar, one of the most highly respected interpreters of American roots music, blues, and Americana, and at the forefront of popular rock-and-roll. Robben Ford is a four-time Grammy nominee and Yellowjackets founder. He is one of the premiere electric guitarists today, particularly known for his blues playing as well as his ability to be comfortable in a variety of musical contexts. Ruthie Foster is an Austin City Limits star and NPR favorite. She’s a Texas singer/songwriter whose blend of gospel, blues, folk and soul has drawn comparisons to Aretha Franklin and Ella Fitzgerald as well as Tracy Chapman and Joan Armatrading.
Tickets for this performance are $50.00 ($37.50 for IMAC Members). For tickets or further information on this performance, or on other IMAC programs, call IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS.
