Sailing, Ride Like the Wind, Arthur's Theme
On Thursday, October 30th, 2008 at 8PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island and Peconic Bay Winery will present an evening with singer/songwriter Christopher Cross.
Were you to mention the name Christopher Cross to a group of average Joes-on-the-street, you’d be certain to elicit one or more of the following responses: “Oh, yeah- Sailing!”, “He did that Arthur movie song”, “Ride Like the Wind rocks!” The US Hot 100 has been filled with his hits including “Never Be The Same”, “All Right”, “Think of Laura”, and “A Chance For Heaven (1984 Summer Olympics)”. “Sailing” earned three awards at the Grammy Awards Ceremony, while “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)” won the Oscar and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. He is the first and only artist to personally receive all of the “Big Four” Grammy Awards (Best Record, Song, Album, and New Artist).
Christopher Cross’s absence from the American pop machinery has not kept him from moving forward. Every few years, the world has been gifted with a new set of Christopher Cross songs, each album growing innately from the last while resolutely advancing the state of his art. He has continued to seek out his fans worldwide by regularly hitting the concert road, never depriving those fans of the early hits (played note-perfect) but always insisting on featuring a broad range of his latest work, the songs where his heart (and his art) truly lies.
Tickets for this performance are $45.00 ($34.00 for
IMAC Members). For tickets or further information
