On Saturday, March 24th, 2007 at 8PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island will present an evening with jazz saxophonist/vocalist Mindi Abair.

Why is life less ordinary for saxophonist/vocalist/composer Mindi Abair?  Ask her fans from around the world- there’s not much ordinary about her.  Mindi Abair catapults her supercharged mix of pop, soul and jazz, - with its stellar melodies, sultry sax and seductive vocals- into the realm of the extraordinary.  Her 2003 debut CD, It Just Happens That Way, debuted in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Chart and remained in the Top 10 for 19 consecutive weeks.  The hit single “Lucy’s” was #1 on the airplay charts for a recording breaking eight weeks and Abair was hailed for leading a new movement in contemporary music.

For Abair, named the Best New Artist at 2003’s National Smooth Jazz Awards, it’s been a wild few years, and her follow-up discs kept the momentum jetting skyward.  Her songs have been featured on everything from Aaron Spelling’s hit “Summerland” to a “Women in Jazz” feature at the Grammy’s to Panasonic’s Jumbotron in Time Square.

Tickets for this performance are $37.50 ($28.50 for IMAC Members).  For tickets or further information on this performance, or on other IMAC programs, call IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS.   Tickets can also be purchased at the theater from noon to 6PM, Tuesday through Friday, 2PM to 6PM on Saturdays and after 2PM on the day of the performances.   For further information, call IMAC's business office at (631) 549-9666.
