On
SATURDAY, September 14th at 8:00 and 10:30PM, the Inter-Media
Art Center in Huntington, Long Island will host a concert with
guitarists ACOUSTIC ALCHEMY featuring Greg Carmichael and John
Parsons and their band.
Formed
in England over a decade ago, Acoustic Alchemy modeled themselves
after bands like Pentangle and Steeleye Span. The duo of Nick
Webb and Greg Carmichael made music that combines a variety
of musical styles ranging from '70's folk-rock to flamenco and
reggae. Their signature style combined nylon and steel-stringed
guitars in eclectic tunes with pleasing melodies and accessible
arrangements. Their recordings, including Red Dust and Spanish
Lace, Natural Elements, Blue Chip, Reference Point, Early Alchemy,
ar can' um and Positive Thinking have received rave reviews
and tremendous national radio airplay. Their newest Higher Octave
release is The Beautiful Game, their eleventh quest to musically
challenge and delight their listeners.
Although
Nick Webb succumbed to pancreatic cancer in February 1998, his
longtime friend and partner, Greg Carmichael, says, "The
best tribute I can think of for Nick, who through it all just
kept going
is to keep it going myself." And with
the able support of John Parsons and the band, as well as the
large, devoted following of their fans, that's just what he's
doing.
