On Friday, June 8th, 2007 at 7PM & 10PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (IMAC) in Huntington, Long Island will present a concert with songwriter and musician extordinaire JOAN ARMATRADING. Joan Armatrading has come a long way since her birth in the West Indies and her upbringing in Birmingham.  Over the course of 18 stunning albums, Joan Armatrading has consistently achieved unanimous critical acclaim and a long list of accolades.  She has played, and still does, with some of the finest musicians around, she has received countless gold, platinum and silver discs.  She has been nominated for both Brit and Grammy Awards, has been the recipient of a highly coveted Ivov Novello Award and she figured large in VH1’s Top 100 voted poll “The Most Influential Woman in Rock.” When first you hear the voice, rich, warm, remarkable, it's a voice that suits a secret sharer, a woman who tells the truth. For 33 years, Joan Armatrading has done just that-- in songs crafty, subtle and sublime. Armatrading's newest release is titled “Into the Blues”. An eclectic mix of songs, it incorporates various types of blues and is very electric based. Tickets for this performance are $45.00 ($34.00 for IMAC Members).  For tickets or further information on this performance, or on other IMAC programs, call IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS.   Tickets can also be purchased at the theater from noon to 6PM, Tuesday through Friday, and after 2PM on the day of the performances.   For further information, call IMAC's business office at (631) 549-9666.
