On Friday, July 14th,
2006 at 8PM & 10:30, the Inter-Media Art Center (also
known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island
will present a concert with jazz pianist and composer David
Benoit.
Over the last quarter century, composer
and pianist David Benoit has been a passionate musical innovator
committed to the exploration of many different art forms
on the American landscape. A five time Grammy nominee for
his extraordinary and seminal contributions to contemporary
jazz, David Benoit began developing his unique personal
style in the mid-seventies. He recorded a number of solo
albums before his 1985 release “This Side Up”
soared to #4 on the Billboard Jazz Charts, catapulting him
into the national limelight. Since then he has recorded
a string of top selling albums on the GRP label, played
at Carnegie Hall and the White House and reached #1 on the
Billboard Jazz Chart with “Linus and Lucy,”
part of 1989’s “Happy Anniversary Charlie Brown”
album.
Benoit has arranged, conducted and performed
music for many popular pop and jazz artists over the years,
including Russ Freeman and the Rippingtons, Kenny Loggins,
Patti Austin, Dave Koz, Kenny Rankin, Faith Hill, David
Lanz, David Pack, The Walt Disney Organization and Brian
McKnight. IMAC is thrilled to welcome back this gifted artist.
