On Saturday, May 5th, 2007 at 8PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island will present a concert with Jazz Pianist Bob James & Angels of Shanghai.
As a multiple Grammy Award winning artist (Best Pop Instrumental Performance-with Earl Klugh 1980/ Best Jazz Fusion Performance- with David Sanborn 1986), Jazz Artist of the Year, Jazz Producer of the Decade, and #1 Best Jazz Composer/ Acoustic Pianist, Bob James has had an illustrious career. He has work with outstanding artists like Larry Carlton, Earl Klugh, David Sanborn, Paul Simon, Neil Diamond, Kenny Loggins, Blood Sweat & Tears, Grover Washington, Jr. and the supergoup Fourplay. But one of Bob’s most famous recordings is the theme music for the TV hit program, “Taxi”. It’s since become one of the most instantly recognizable theme songs in television history.
Legendary jazz artist Bob James presents his newest project: Angels of Shanghai. A unique east meets west musical exploration- contemporary jazz artists interacting with young musicians from Shanghai performing on traditional Chinese instruments. Ancient sounds blend with modern technology and creativity to produce an experience with no boundaries.
