On Friday, September 14th at 9PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (IMAC) in Huntington, Long Island will present a jazz concert featuring The CARIBBEAN JAZZ PROJECT.

With sizzling riffs and smooth sound, The Caribbean Jazz Project is a perfect way to wrap up the summer.  Led by marimba/vibraphonist Dave Samuels, best known for his two decades with the jazz-fusion supergroup Spyro Gyra, along with revered guitarist Steve Kahn and  Nuyorican flutist Dave Valentin, a veritable Latin jazz institution in himself, this band really heats it up.  Add driving bass and percussion to the mix and you have the current line-up for The Caribbean Jazz Project.

The group’s repertoire has a decidedly Latin bent, with such tunes as Dizzy Gillespie’s classic “A Night in Tunisia,” Alec Wilder’s great ballad “Moon and Sand” and Samuels’ “Ivory Coast” which he recorded on his 1989 album Ten Degrees North, along with a treasure trove of original tunes.

Tickets for this performance are $30.00 general public ($22.50 for IMAC Members) and can be obtained by calling IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS. Tickets can also be purchased at the theater from noon to 6PM, Tuesdays to Fridays, and after 2PM on the day of the show.
