On Thursday, January 17th, 2008 at 8PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island will present an evening with singer/songwriter Ani DiFranco.

Since releasing her first recording in 1990, Ani DiFranco has established herself as one of the most influential and inspirational artists of the modern era.  DiFranco’s innovative guitar style, signature percussive finger picking, expressive vocals and incisive lyrics- alone with a constitutional inability to be anything less than totally real- have earned her a loyal, dedicated fan base an ongoing critical acclaim.  The empowering spirit of this one-of-a-kind singer/songwriter, guitarist and producer is evident in songs that tackle barbed political and sexual issues with uncommon insight and compassion.  With DiFranco, what you see and hear are what you get- the act of making music is inseparable from the process of living her life. Everything Ani has released, from that self-titled cassette 17 years ago to her most recent album 2007’s Canon, has drawn critical accolades.  Over the years, Rolling Stone has described her as “breathtakingly talented”, “fiercely independent”, “iconic” and “one of the few artists around who can really paint the rainbows.”

Tickets for this performance are $49.50 ($37.50 for IMAC Members).  For tickets or further information on this performance, or on other IMAC programs, call IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS.   Tickets can also be purchased at the theater from noon to 6PM, Tuesday through Friday, 2PM to 6PM on Saturdays and after 2PM on the day of the performances or online at www.imactheater.org.   For further information, call IMAC's business office at (631) 549-9666.
