On Friday, August 23rd at 9pm, the Inter-Media Art Center in Huntington, Long Island will host a
concert with blues-rock guitarist ROBBEN FORD.

Guitarist/singer/composer Robben Ford has distinguished himself in a variety of genres, from fusion jazz to R&B. But his first love has always been the blues, an idiom he has explored at several points in his richly varied career. Ford is a rarity among musicians: a technical virtuoso who can play with true blues authenticity.

Ford’s earliest musical steps were in the blues, playing with his brothers in the Charles Ford Band and backing harmonica great Charlie Musselwhite. Robben then joined the legendary Jimmy Witherspoon’s band. But his career took an unexpected turn in 1974, when saxophonist Tom Scott discovered him. He began to perform and
record with Scott’s jazz-fusion band the LA Express and joined them in backing songwriter Joni Mitchell. In 1997, Ford formed his own fusion band, The Yellowjackets, with whom he would go on to record two albums. The following year saw the release of his solo debut album; a fusion-flavored excursion called “The Inside Story”. The 80’s were a fertile period, with session work for everyone from Little Feat to Michael McDonald and a stint with jazz giant Miles Davis.

A breezy confidence and a deep connection with the blues brought him back into the studio to record his latest album “Blue Moon”. IMAC is thrilled to welcome jazz and blues guitarist Robben Ford to our stage.
