On SATURDAY, November 30th at 8 & 10:30PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (IMAC) in Huntington, Long Island will present JAZZ IS DEAD - Jazz Explorations into the Music of the Grateful Dead.

JAZZ IS DEAD embarks from the compass point of GARCIA and Co.'s most complex and audacious material, culled from many periods of their storied history. From there, the musical heading is unknown, each performance promising inspired improvisation and new discovery, like the band whose work they celebrate. The music is crafted by an all-star line-up including BILLY COBHAM, T LAVITZ, KEN GRADNEY and JEFF PEVAR.

Only a few times in history has a musician been singled out as the world-class master of his instrument. BILLY COBHAM is one of those few artists. For over 30 years, he has received international acclaim as the total consummate
percussionist. He has performed on hundreds of records with his own groups and with some of the music's luminary artists, including Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestras, George Duke, Peter Gabriel and Larry Coryell.

Bassist KEN GRADNEY has been around. As the bassist of Little Feat since 1973, Gradney have been demonstrating the art of the groove for over twenty years, both live in concert and on classic recordings such as "Dixie Chicken", "Feats Don't Fail Me Now", and the more recent "Ain't had Enough Fun".

Guitarist JEFF PEVAR is one of the tops in his field, having played and toured with such distinguished artists like David Crosby, Graham Nash, Ray Charles and Phil Lesh and Friends.

Keyboardist T LAVITZ was a co-founder of the legendary, six-time Grammy nominated band, The Dixie Dregs and its successor, The Dregs. He's also toured and recorded with Widespread Panic, Jefferson Starship, The Bluesbusters,
Scott Henderson and Journey's Steve Smith, among others.

Tickets for this performance are $35.00 ($26.50 for IMAC Members). For tickets to this performance, or for other IMAC programs, call IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS. Tickets can also be purchased at the theater from noon to 6PM, Tuesdays to Fridays, and after 2PM on the day of the show. For further information, call IMAC's business office at (631) 549-9666.
