On Saturday, April 18th, 2009 at 7PM & 9:30PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island will present an evening with Jefferson Starship and David Grisman in a special collaboration: The JEFFERSON GRISMAN Project.

The Jefferson Grisman Project is a historic collaboration between Jefferson Starship and mandolin player David Grisman.  During this special evening, these legendary artists will be performing Jefferson’s Tree of Liberty and the iconic songs of Jefferson Starship/ Airplane and David Grisman.

Jefferson Starship, a collaboration of celebrated musicians that plays from the rich songbook of its legendary forefathers Jefferson Airplane and the original incarnation of Jefferson Starship, prevails as one of the most critically acclaimed touring acts today.  They were one of the seminal bands to emerge from the musical ‘fertile crescent’ of San Francisco in the early ‘60’s, and features a stellar cast of original and new players.  In 1970, Jefferson Starship took over where it’s predecessor, Jefferson Airplane left off, forging some of the most influential music of the era.  Their music celebrates a gentler era of peace, love and rock-n-roll that still runs deep through the counter-culture’s psyche. David Grisman spearheaded an acoustic music revolution with his genre-defying “Dawg” music (a blend of stylistic influences including swing, bluegrass, Latin, jazz and gypsy). Today his discography includes recordings with Bela Fleck, the Grateful Dead, Stephane Grappelli, Emmylou Harris, Chris Isaak, Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt , Earl Scruggs, Dan Fogelberg, Maria Muldaur, John Sebastian and James Taylor.

Tickets for this performance are $45.00 ($34.00 for IMAC Members).  For tickets or further information on this performance, or on other IMAC programs, call IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS.   Tickets can also be purchased at the theater from noon to 6PM, Tuesday through Friday, 2PM to 6PM on Saturdays and after 2PM on the day of the performances or online at www.imactheater.org.   For further information, call IMAC's business office at (631) 549-9666.
