Friday,
June 22nd at 9PM, the Inter-Media Art Center in Huntington,
Long Island will host a
concert with jazz keyboardist JEFF LORBER.
With
a unique instrumental sound bringing together elements of
funk, R&B, rock and electric jazz, legendary keyboardist
Jeff Lorber helped pioneer the music genre now formatted under
the names New Adult Contemporary (NAC) and smooth jazz.
His newest release Kickin� It kicks off a spirited
and brassy retro-funk flavor featuring Lorber�s alternately
playful and elegant piano playing.
Since
the advent of the New Adult Contemporary format in the late
80�s, Jeff Lorber has been filling a unique dual role.
Having played a significant role in developing the late
70�s, early 80�s R&B- jazz hybrid sound, the
keyboardist has managed the difficult task of inspiring a new
generation of instrumental artists, while remaining a vital
and cutting edge creative force himself.
IMAC is thrilled to welcome Jeff Lorber
to our stage.
Tickets for
this performance are $30.00 general public ($22.50 for IMAC
Members) and can be obtained by calling IMAC's 24-hour
Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS. Tickets can also be purchased
at the theater from noon to 6PM, Tuesdays to Fridays, and
