On
Saturday, March 20th, 2004 at 9PM the
Inter-Media Art Center
(IMAC) in Huntington, Long Island will present a concert with
jazz fusionist Chieli Minucci and Special EFX with special
guest saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa.
Its
time to Party with the masters of the contemporary
jazz scene, the Grammy nominated, chart-topping sensation
Special EFX.
Few bands in contemporary jazz have been as consistently
engaging, entertaining and artistically satisfying as the
seminal group. Special EFX, spearheaded by guitarist Chieli Minucci (pronounced Kee-eli Mee-noo-che), who along with the
late George Jinda has helped to pave the road of contemporary
jazz through the 80s and 90s and continues to set the trend.
Once again Special
EFX proves why they are among the best with their latest
and 17th CD, Party. In typical fashion, the band produces a fresh
mix of irresistible grooves filled with funky memorable hooks,
lyrical head bopping melodies and house inspired body shaking
rhythms. Party follows on the heels of the acclaimed
album Butterfly, whos single Cruise
Control held the number one spot on the smooth jazz charts
for weeks!
With
Minucci and Special EFX is special guest saxophonist
Jeff Kashiwa. Many smooth jazz fans were taken by surprise
in early 1999, when Jeff Kashiwa left the Rippingtons
after ten years to devote more time to develop his career
as a solo artist, but in truth, the popular saxophonist has
always had his eye on striking out on his own. Kashiwas
renown in smooth jazz became secure with the ten years with
the Rippingtons, playing hundreds of gigs and recording
such as Welcome to the St. James Club, Curves Ahead, Black
Diamond, and Live in L.A..This kind of care and dedication
has made Kashiwa one of smooth jazzs most popular
performers over the last decade. He has enjoyed sharing the first part of his
journey with an ever-expanding audience and invites those
fans and new listener to join him on his vibrant future as
a solo artist.
