On Friday, November 2nd, 2007 at 8PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island will present an evening with Moonalice. Moonalice is seven (7) world-class bassists. Moonalice features: G.E. Smith (Saturday Night Live Band, Bob Dylan), Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna), Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship, Hot Tuna), Barry Sless (Phil Lesh, David Nelson Band), Anne McNamee (Flying Other Brothers), Roger McNamee (Flying Other Brothers) and Jimmy Sanchez (Bonnie Ratt, Boz Scaggs).
Moonalice is a far flung tribe of musicians who all want to play bass. With a culture based on groove, the tribal members blow minds on guitars, keyboards and a range of other instruments to prove their worthiness to play the low end. The band- or tribe, as it is known in Moonalice culture- plays an intoxicating brew of roots, blues, psychedelia, and strange (but kind) folk. It is said by those who say such things that the day will come when all seven members of the clan with play bass together. And on that day the notion of low will be taken to new depths or possibly the notion of depth taken to new lows. As with all things, it’s really a matter of perspective. (www.moonaliceband.com)
