On Saturday, March 5th, 2005 at 8PM &
10:30PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”)
in Huntington, Long Island will present a concert with jazz
saxophonist NAJEE.
With two platinum and four gold albums,
Najee is one of the pioneers of what is commonly known as
contemporary jazz. A combination of jazz improvisation and
R& B, this genre forms a bridge from the jazz fusion
of the late 70s to the jazz pop of the mid 80s.
After the release of his debut album, Najee
embarked on a US tour with Freddie Jackson. Najee Theme
went platinum and was nominated for a Grammy music award.
His sophomore album also went platinum. Other releases have
reached gold. Najee is the recipient of many music awards
including the Soul Train Music Award for Best Jazz Artist.
In 1999, Najee was a guest of President Bill Clinton in
a special performance at the White House honoring President
Jerry Rawlings of the Republic of Ghana. Over the years,
Najee has worked with many great artists such as Quincy
Jones, Patti LaBelle, George Duke, Lionel Richie and Jonathan
Butler. His newest CD is entitled Embrace.
