On Saturday, November 1st, 2003 at 9PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (IMAC) in Huntington, Long Island will present a concert with folk/rock vocalist/guitarist RICHARD THOMPSON.

Hailed as a great folk-rock romanticist for his dark wit and sardonic lyrics and admired for his biting guitar playing, Richard Thompson has been cited as an influence by many of today’s top artist including REM, Bruce Springsteen, Beck, Bonnie Raitt, Los Lobos, Linda Ronstadt, David Byrne and Nanci Griffith . His songs have been recorded by a wide spectrum of artists including Raitt, Ronstadt, Griffith, Elvis Costello, Shawn Colvin, and The Pointer Sisters.

Richard Thompson has been a critics’ favorite for more than thirty years starting with his days in the pioneering British folk/rock group Fairport Convention. Critical acclaim followed Richard through the 70’s and 80’s with many successful solo recordings on various labels. His solo career continued with his first Capitol recording 1988’s Amnesia. Songs such as “Turning of the Tide” and “Waltzing’s For Dreamers” showed Thompson writing with fresh energy and strength after a period where his music had been influenced by the break-up of his marriage to his longtime musical partner, Linda Thompson. Three years later, he enjoyed one of his biggest successes to date with the acclaimed Rumor & Sigh; which contained songs such as “I Misunderstood”, “Keep Your Distance”, and “I Feel So Good”. To celebrate his new album Action Packed- The Best of The Capitol Years (which includes such hits as “Beeswing” and “King of Bohemia”), IMAC is thrilled to welcome Richard Thompson to our stage.

Tickets for this performance are $35.00 ($26.50 for IMAC Members). For tickets or further information on this performance, or on other IMAC programs, call IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS.
