On Friday, August 22nd, 2008 at 7PM & 9:30PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island will present an evening with three legendary great of the bass: Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten and Marcus Miller.

Composer, arranger, producer, bandleader and scorer of films, Stanley Clarke is one of the most celebrated bass players in the world.  In nearly twenty-six years in the business, Clarke has received virtually every honor that can be bestowed a musician, including a Grammy Award, seven Grammy nominations, three Emmy nominations, Playboy’s Jazz Bassist of the Year for 10 consecutive years and Guitar Player’s Gallery of the Greats.  Clarke has a reputation for applying his talents to a diverse range of projects and incorporating an unexpected versatility to the instrument that brought him to prominence.  Victor Wooten is an electric bass player; highly regarded among his musical peers for his extraordinary technical virtuosity and his skills as a musician and composer.  Wooten has been a member of several fusion and progressive super-groups, including Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Bass Extremes (with Steve Bailey, Derico Watson, Oteil Burbridge), the Vital Tech Tones (with Scott Henderson and Steve Smith) as well as having his own solo career.  Marcus Miller is a Grammy award winning bass who has worked with such greats as Miles Davis, Luther Vandross, Roberta Flack, Grover Washington Jr., Bob James and David Sanborn.  He’s a bassist who keeps things balanced; combining R&B, jazz and funk to create a sound that is uniquely his own.

Tickets for this performance are $65.00 ($49.00 for IMAC Members).  For tickets or further information on this performance, or on other IMAC programs, call IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS.   Tickets can also be purchased at the theater from noon to 6PM, Tuesday through Friday, 2PM to 6PM on Saturdays and after 2PM on the day of the performances or online at www.imactheater.org.   For further information, call IMAC's business office at (631) 549-9666.
