On Friday, June 22nd, 2007 at 8PM,
the Inter-Media Art Center (also
known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island
will present a concert with funk/soul/jazz group Down
To The Bone featuring saxophonist Paul “SHILTS” Weimer.
Hailed as king of UK jazz groove, Down To The
Bone’s groove gets harder, funkier and
juicier. Their music encompasses all that is funky,
soulful and jazzy. As founder and producer of the
band, Stuart Wade states that “it’s
all about the groove…that is what get people dancing,
their toes tapping and their heads nodding”.
The retro-vibe that pays homage to such musical greats
as Ramsy Lewis, Roy Ayers and Lonnie Liston Smith, and
epitomizes the Down To The Bone sound
is created in a unique way. While Wade is
not a conventional musician, he has a team of band members
that help him to expand his ideas and melodies: together,
they lay down chords and create rhythms. Then he
uses a selection of live instrument recording and samples. With
the addition of vocalists and reputed musicians, he is
able to create some truly tasty tracks. With six
albums receiving critical acclaim and chart topping success
in the US contemporary Jazz Billboard charts, IMAC is thrilled
to welcome Down To The Bone to our stage.
Tickets for this performance are $40.00 ($30.00 for IMAC Members). For tickets or further information on this performance, or on other IMAC programs, call IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS.
